How we collect data

Where the figures come from

Every price on this site comes from the golf club's own public web pages: its membership, visitor (green fee) and open competition pages. We do not take prices from other directories, and we do not estimate a figure a club has not printed.

How a figure gets onto the site

  1. Software reads the club's page and extracts the rows that contain prices or competition dates.
  2. Each row is stored with the address of the page it came from, the date it was read and the season printed on that page.
  3. A row is published only after it has been checked against the club's page. Rows from a page that shows an old season, or where two readings disagree, are held back.

What the labels mean

  • Checked [date]: the day the figure was last compared with the club's page.
  • Not captured: we have not yet checked that figure. It does not mean the club does not publish it.
  • Category names in membership tables are the club's own wording.

How the pages are made

Pages are generated from the data by software. Calculations on a page (for example cost per round) are arithmetic on the figures shown beside them. Past competitions are removed automatically.

Corrections

Prices change, and the club's own page is always the authority. If a figure here is wrong, please tell us and we will correct it.
